How to Register as a Coach 

1. Register Online

Register through your My Spordle Account:

Don’t have an account? You can create one through the same link.
If your Spordle account isn’t linked to Whitemud West Hockey, request a transfer by emailing: 

registrar@whitemudwest.com
Include: 

• Your full name 

• Your birthdate 

You’ll be notified once the transfer is complete and can proceed with coach registration. 

 

2. Complete Required Courses

Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders (RIS – Coach) 

• Mandatory for all coaches (Anyone on ice or the Bench) 

• Must be completed before your application is considered 

• Cost: $31.50 – Prepaid codes are available.

  Take the RIS Coach Course
  Be sure to select Whitemud West as your association 

 

3. Police Information Check

All coaches must have a valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
You will receive an email from PoliceSolutions.ca – Edmonton Police Service to complete the check online. 

Important: Whitemud West does not receive the completed police check automatically. It is the coach applicant’s responsibility to send the completed Police Check directly to:
registrar@whitemudwest.com 

 

Deadlines & Additional Requirements 

• All minimum requirements must be completed by October 1, 2025 

• Additional coaching certifications may be required for Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches 

• The Registrar will contact you if further certifications are needed 

• Starting in September, there will be in-person Clinics for Coach 1, Coach 2, and checking skills. More details will follow as they become available.

Upcoming Coach Clinics 

All required courses completed through Hockey Alberta will be reimbursed once the course is completed. To initiate the reimbursement process, please follow these steps: 

1. Complete the required course(s). 

1. Send the receipt for the course along with the transfer email to the registrar at registrar@whitemudwest.com for reimbursement. 

Coach registration for the upcoming season is open June 2, 2025 and available through the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR). 

Please note the following: 

 

• Our VP of Coaching will review all U9-U13 submitted registrations. If any clarification or further information is required, they will reach out directly. 

• Our Initiation Director will review all U7 D, Jr and Sr. Timbit submitted Coach registrations. If any clarification or further information is required, they  will reach out directly. 

• We receive a high volume of applications and take care to evaluate each one thoroughly. 

• Coaches are not assigned to teams until after player evaluations are complete and team placements have been finalized.
