Tiering Information
Tiering Grid
What Is the Alberta One Standardized Tiering Model?
The Standardized Tiering Model is part of the Alberta One initiative, designed to create a consistent structure across all Minor Hockey Associations in Alberta. It helps determine initial team placements and guides the tiering process across leagues.
How It Works
- All teams begin with placement using the Alberta One Tiering Grid
- Teams then compete in tiering rounds
- Final team placements are made according to the individual league’s policies
- Associations with multiple teams in a division may now be required to enter more than one Tier 1 team based on updated grid guidelines
Why It Matters
This model ensures:
- Consistent competition levels
- A fair and transparent evaluation process
- A streamlined structure across Alberta's minor hockey system
